Weak acid cation exchange resin is a kind of resin containing weak acid exchange groups: carboxyl COOH, phosphate po2h2 and phenol.

It is mainly used in water treatment, separation of rare elements, dealkalization and softening of water, extraction and separation of antibiotics and amino acids in pharmaceutical industry.

Feature

(1) The weak acid cation exchange resin has similar characteristics in water. Therefore, its ability to decompose neutral salts is weak (i.e. it is difficult to react with salts of strong acid anions such as SO42 -, Cl -). It can only react with weak acid salts (salts with alkalinity) to produce weak acid instead of strong acid. Water with high alkalinity can be treated by weak acid H-type exchange resin. After the cations corresponding to alkalinity in water are completely removed, the cations corresponding to strong acid radical in water can be removed by strong acid H-type exchange resin.

(2) Because the weak acid cation exchange resin has high affinity for H +, it is easy to regenerate, so it can be regenerated with the waste liquid of strong acid H-type cation exchange resin.

(3) The exchange capacity of weak acid cation exchange resin is larger than that of strong acid cation exchange resin.

(4) Weak acid cation exchange resin has low crosslinking degree and large pores, so its mechanical strength is lower than that of strong acid cation exchange resin.

Other Characteristics

The properties of weak acid cation exchange resin in water are similar to those of weak acid. It has weak interaction with neutral salts (such as SO42 -, Cl - and other strong acid anions). It can only react with weak acid salts (salts with alkalinity) and produce weak acid after reaction. Water with high alkalinity can be treated by strong acid H-type ion exchange resin. After the anion corresponding to alkalinity in water is removed, the anion corresponding to strong acid radical can be removed by strong acid H-type ion exchange resin.

Because the weak acid cation resin has a high affinity for H, it is easy to regenerate, so it can be regenerated with the waste liquid of strong acid H-type anion exchange resin.

The exchange capacity of weak acid cation resin is about twice that of strong acid cation resin. Because the crosslinking degree of weak acid cation resin is low, its mechanical strength is lower than that of strong acid cation resin.

Salt type weak acid cation resin has hydrolysis ability.
